Is it possible to increase the size ofan image in ImageTool--not simply ZOOM on the image (which rescales everythingincluding the pixels) but actually ENLARGE it leaving the zoom scale the same? This would have the same effect as taking the same picture but with increasedmagnification and converting it into a .TIF file. I just did one and it doesn't work. It has the 3 entrypoints from the generic boiler-plate file for acquisition plug-ins, and the4 strings 10000 - 10003 are in a .rc file, but I get the not-so-usefulmessage "This is not an IT plugin!"What might I have forgotten?Bob . On the other hand, there are some artifacts introducedby rendering a continuous image into discrete pixels, particularly whenyou're reducing 8 bits to 1 bit. These CAN be reduced. Try blowing up the image as described, and then smoothing it (perhaps witha median filter). Do the minimum amount of filtering which works; you wantto lo-pass out the artifactual high frequencies at the edges, but not thereal ones. This is a matter of trial-and-error. Finally threshold andfourier xform. You might also try smoothing after thresholding, but I wouldexpect the smoothing filter to work better at a stage when there's moreinformation available to it.Goog luckBob . Robert A.
